Get Ready for Walker Homecoming – September 27, 2024!

WEATHER UPDATE:

We continue to monitor the weather closely as Hurricane Helene approaches. The safety of our students, parents, faculty and staff is our top priority. 

To that end, unfortunately, the Walker School Association Fall Festival will not be held this Friday. With the incoming weather, bounce houses and other similar attractions would not be safe. We want to thank all of the parents who generously volunteered their time for this event. We appreciate your support and look forward to next year’s Fall Festival.

Currently, all other Homecoming activities are proceeding as planned. We will make any necessary changes with safety in mind, and we will continue to update you as we receive more information.

SCHEDULE

The Walker School Homecoming – Friday, Sept. 27, 2024

  • 2 p.m.  - Pep Rally and Upper School Walk-outs - Coles Gym (students only)
  • 5:30 p.m. - Alumni gathering begins - Bowden courtyard (invitation only)
  • 6 p.m. - Tailgate begins - Tailgate Lot behind the press box
  • 6 p.m. - Fall Festival ends - Families move to Tailgate Party
  • 7 p.m. - Performance by the cheer squad
  • 7:30 p.m. - Wolverine Football Game vs Cherokee Christian School
    • Halftime - Homecoming Court

Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024

  • 8:00 p.m. - Homecoming Dance for Upper School - on campus

Lower, Middle and Upper School

Monday, Sept. 23

  • “Movie Marathon” The race to win the most spirit points this week is on! Dress in the jersey or sports merch of your choice; it doesn't have to be movie-related!  

Tuesday, Sept. 24

  • “Rewind” Roll back the tapes because Tuesday is all about nostalgia! Dress as your favorite childhood movie character, cartoon or real – anything goes! (Disney Princess, Shrek, Harry Potter, Mia Thermopolis, Spy Kids...)

Wednesday, Sept. 25

  • “Trip to Hollywood Studios” Come to school dressed like a tacky tourist on a trip to Hollywood Studios; Hawaiian Shirts, fanny packs, socks with sandals and hats are welcome!

Thursday, Sept. 26

  • “Villains on Screen” Channel your inner dark side today and dress as your favorite movie villain. (Darth Vader, Bellatrix Lestrange, Regina George, Vector, Voldemort...)
    • Middle School: Superhero Day. Dress as your favorite superhero
       
  • “Technicolor” On Friday, Walker is coming to you in full Technicolor! Celebrate by wearing your class colors with your HOCO t-shirt throughout the day and to the football game at 7:30 p.m. We'll end the day with our whole school PEP RALLY.
    *Colors to be provided once they're selected by SAU.
    • Middle School: Neon Day – Highlight your amazing Middle School, and dress in neon highlights!

Primary School

  • Monday, Sept. 23: Jersey Day
  • Tuesday, Sept. 24: Favorite Movie Character
  • Wednesday, Sept. 25: Tacky Tourists
  • Thursday, Sept. 26: Movie Star Thursday
  • Friday, Sept. 27: Walker Wear
TAILGATE PARTY

Please join the Homecoming Tailgate Party at 6 p.m. hosted by The Wolverine Club in the lot immediately behind the press box. The party is FREE and open to all featuring games, activities, music and the opportunity to connect with Walker families in a fun, relaxed setting. Food can be purchased from concessions on site.

We encourage families to stay on campus between the Fall Festival and 7:30 p.m. football game kickoff, and the Tailgate Party will provide great entertainment!
