With dedicated support at school and at home, students in New Avenues work and learn within Walker's college-preparatory environment. The goal is for remediated students to transition into traditional school communities using learned strategies and resources to flourish in the classroom and beyond. |

AT WALKER, WE ARE ALL WOLVERINES!
New Avenues students are very much a part of the larger school community and participate with their grade-level peers in co-curriculuar activities including art, science, music, technology, PE, recess and lunch. Our unique “school within a school” model cultivates intellectual curiosity while also providing students with opportunities to develop a broad social base.

WHY WE ARE UNIQUE
New Avenues students have strong cognitive abilities yet often require additional support and instruction with reading, writing, organization and study skills.
New Avenues teachers are trained in specialized research-based methods, and they are invested in each student’s success, creating a safe environment to take academic risks. Students learn how to become active readers, author their own writing pieces and master math concepts – all while gaining confidence in their voice and ability to learn.
