Get Ready for Secret Shop – Monday, Dec. 2 through Friday, Dec. 6!

WSA SECRET SHOP

Secret Shop is a holiday store organized by The Walker School Association (WSA). The store features the same merchandise as seen in many boutique gift shops across metro Atlanta. Our parent volunteer team purchases high-quality merchandise at wholesale prices and the savings are passed on to you! On your child’s shopping day, he/she will return home with a bundle of wrapped gifts, pride in his/her purchases, a quick lesson on budgets, and a great big SECRET!

This year's Secret Shop is open Monday, Dec. 2 – Friday, Dec. 6 in Coca-Cola Auditorium. Secret Shop hours on Monday – Thursday are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday will be 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Faculty and Staff are welcome to shop at any time during the week, and we’ll have a special Parent & Teacher Shopping event on Thursday, December 5 from 6 to 8 pm.

WHO CAN SHOP?

Everyone in The Walker community is welcome at Secret Shop!

  • Primary and Lower School students shop on assigned days and volunteers help them choose just the right gift within the budget you determine. The younger children LOVE having the independence to choose gifts for their family members. On or around Nov. 4, teachers will send home a form to share who your child is shopping for, their budget, and gift tags to fill out for the gifts. Please bring the completed list, gift tags, and a shopping bag back to school on or before Monday, Nov. 15.

  • Middle and Upper School students may shop Monday through Thursday from 3 - 4 p.m. (new this year)

  • Upper School students will have volunteer opportunities during free periods and may shop after they finish their volunteer time. Volunteer opportunities will be shared through the Daily Bulletin and Week at Walker.

  • Faculty and Staff are welcome to shop at any time during the week, and we’ll have a special Parent & Teacher Shopping event on Thursday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.
HOW MUCH DO GIFTS COST?

Gifts range in price from $5 to $50, and the average is $20-$25
WHO SHOULD MY STUDENT SHOP FOR?

Given the allotted time for each class to shop, we recommend:

  • Primary School students shop for 1 - 5 family members

  • Lower School students 1-10 family members 

  • Middle and Upper School Students can use their discretion with your guidance
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?
All charges will be billed to student accounts. Lower and Primary Students should return the form sent home from teachers. Parents of Middle and Upper School students should complete this form to authorize charges to student accounts. If you did not receive a form or have questions about payment please contact us at SecretShop@thewalkerschool.org.

WILL I RECEIVE A RECEIPT?

Yes, cashiers will produce a receipt for purchase with the total amount paid.

Can I shop with my child?
Yes. However, ideally, the children will shop with a volunteer and learn about the gift of giving. They also love the surprise of bringing gifts home they chose themselves.

WHAT IF MY CHILD MISSES SCHOOL THE DAY THEIR CLASS SHOPS?

Email SecretShop@thewalkerschool.org and cc their teacher to set up a time to shop Thursday or Friday.

ARE THERE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES?
Yes! We need volunteers prior to Thanksgiving break to wrap the gifts. And we need volunteers to help kids pick out gifts for their family members during Secret Shop week. You can sign up for a shift here. Thank you for helping keep this annual Walker tradition magical!
